![]() ![]() It’s always disheartening to see works like The Dark Knight Rises or Fear the Walking Dead take legitimate political grievances and turn them into mere facades for supernatural villainy. Hopefully his citizens’ discontent won’t be chalked up solely to telepathic control. It’s the end of an era for the Black Panther as renowned writer Ta-Nehisi Coates concludes his Wakandan epic Over four years, Coates has taken the Black Panther to hell and back and expanded Wakanda into the distant stars. The arc title, “A Nation Under Our Feet,” appears to suggest that Black Panther will heavily interrogate T’Challa’s relationship with his country. ![]() His failure to protect his people from recent devastation is certainly causing everyone to rethink the Wakandan system. T’Challa certainly seems to believe the latter, but he can also tell his people are discontent and divided from him. 1: A Nation Under Our Feet by Ta-Nehisi Coates A new era for the Black Panther starts here The indomitable will of Wakanda, the famed African nation known for its vast wealth, advanced technology and warrior traditions - has long been reflected in the will of its monarchs, the Black Panthers. ![]() The protestors at the beginning of the comic attack T’Challa while screaming “death to tyrants” and “a throne for Wakandans.” It’s unclear at this point whether this feeling was genuine or created by the mysterious telepath. ![]() Coates does not shy away from politics in his writing, and it appears his Black Panther will also touch on political issues in between its superhero battle sequences. ![]()
